Fu for Thought

Strap yourselves in, it's going to be a wild one. This week we take a break from martial arts and Cyrus and I tackle the 2021 Taiwanese horror movie, The Sadness.

We talk about the amusing reason why Devan isn't on the episode, whether a film can be both gory and deep and we throw around theories regarding how the movie ends.

We also play a fun "Fresh or Trash" game I made up (stole from a You Tube video) and, right at the end of the episode, Devan joins me to give us a little insight as to why she couldn't stomach the film.

Unfortunately, this week's episode begins with technical issues so we lose our intro. But that's ok! You come in on us talking about Uncharted and then, from that point, everything's smooth sailing.

In this episode we discuss the very Power Rangers-ish The Super Inframan. We do our best to explain the science behind Inframan (which is impossible), we discuss our favorite monsters and we get utterly baffled by the first 60 seconds of the film.

On this bonus episode, I chat it up with Tristan aka Martial Arts Film Freak about all things martial arts cinema. I ask him about his introduction to the genre, his preferred style of fight choreography and we discuss how modern action cinema is finally doing things right. And a lot more.

As always, I talk too much, but it's a really fun conversation. It's always nice to sit down with a fellow genre fan.

Well, it finally happened. This is the first episode of the podcast where I genuinely get angry at Devan and Cyrus. I'm still annoyed, if I'm honest.
Things get a little heated but soon die down as we get into the ins and outs of this underseen action fest.
I ask, "Can a film have too much action?", Devan's got her usual dose of nicknames and Cyrus gets a little confused because he didn't watch the uncut version.

Later on, we answer some Power Rangers heavy listener questions and Devan turns into a marketing genius as we crate our own energy drink.

Devan let me and Cyrus record this episode by ourselves...which is never a good idea. There is LOTS of Street Fighter discussion (film and game), Cyrus loves the new mics because he feels like he's on a witness stand and I reveal that I finally understand Hentai.

Early on, Cyrus reveals the connection between a good Christopher Walken and a good Arnold Schwarzenegger impersonation and later on, we answer a slew of listener questions.

This week we discuss our second Venoms Mob movie (we covered Five Deadly Venoms a while back). No spoilers but our opinions on the film are pretty mixed. Devan gets perplexed about just why Lo Meng's called Golden Arm, Cyrus does his best to explain that twist and I get a bit heated about how people criticize kung fu films.
